Dr. Philippe Lesage

I hold a Ph.D. in 1981 at the University of Paris VI and the Institut de Physique du Globe where I used tiltmeters to study crustal deformations related to earthquakes. I was researcher at the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada, Mexico (1981-1985). There, I studied the source of large Mexican earthquakes by inversion of teleseismic waveforms and I carried out geodetic measurements of active faults of Baja California.

I am assistant professor at the University of Savoie, France since 1987, and I spent two years in 2005-2007 at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in the framework of the French scientific cooperation. I worked with Bernard Valette on the calculation of global mean Earth models including pre-stress by the inversion of the normal modes frequencies. In volcano seismology, I improved signal processing methods adapted to the seismo-volcanic signals and I studied the seismic activity of various volcanoes of Indonesia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Peru, and Mexico.
